Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen was a British fashion designer. He founded his own label. He earned four British Designer of the year awards as well as am International Designer of the year award in 2003.

Mcqueen's work is mainly quite visually striking, not necessarily with the bold use of colours, but from the shapes and style of his pieces.

I think this piece is arguably one of my favourite pieces of his. I love the style and shape of the dress and the ruffle design on the top half. I also love how McQueen has carried on the colour theme throughout the dress and into the skirt design at the bottom.

There are many pieces of McQueen's that i find visually interesting, like the above pieces. I like the originality of the styles of the pieces and especially like the headpieces he has created for the outfits as I think sometimes these set off the whole piece with their unusually shapes and styles, such as the second piece where the headpiece shape fits in nicely with the train of the dress.

His work has been seen worn by many celebrities. Probably most noted, Lady GaGa who incorporated McQueen's pieces in her music videos and live shows. Here she is wearing one of McQueen's pieces at an acoustic show shortly after McQueen's death, where she honoured the man.
This dress is striking in the pattern and colours used to create the piece, possibly why it was listed among the '100 Best Dresses of the Decade' by InStyle magazine.

Although many of McQueen's pieces are unusually styles and bold, some of his pieces are more styled for wear, like these dresses above, which wouldn't be out of place at a wedding or prom.
